Hi–
I have been taking guitar lessons from Brad in Renton since January, and I wanted to take a moment to commend 4/4 School of Music for having such an inspiring teacher and superb professional on your faculty.
I’ve wanted to learn a musical instrument since my childhood, when my family’s financial circumstances didn’t permit me to be a part of the school band. Over the years I made several unsuccessful attempts to try to learn guitar or piano on my own, but progress was very slow and painful and I eventually would give up. Last summer I decided to try one more time, and purchased a beginner guitar. After struggling for a few months with the instructional DVD that came with the guitar, I received an introductory set of guitar lessons at 4/4 as a Christmas gift from my wife (she was probably tired of listening to my struggles!).
I was assigned to Brad as my teacher, and I can’t imagine a better teacher for me. I arrived for my first lesson excited–but also a little nervous. Brad immediately put my fears to rest with his friendly, easy-going manner, terrific teaching approach, and obvious musical knowledge and talent. Thirty minutes later, I walked out already knowing how to play some cool, simple rock melodies and with a vibrant sense of confidence and direction about the guitar. I also left with a big smile on my face, already looking forward to the next lesson.
I am still a beginner, but I have come a long way since that first lesson. Thanks to Brad’s patient, attentive approach, the lessons are always very positive and I always learn new techniques and feel myself improving and growing as a musician. I leave with plenty to practice and motivated to continue learning. Brad has a great way of relating to me, finding just the right kinds of musical samples to teach with and help keep me enthusiastic. He has taken the time to get to know me, my musical preferences and my goals. I can readily sense his genuine interest in my progress, and he is always very helpful and encouraging. He also makes every lesson enjoyable and fun.
I’ve had the opportunity to see and hear Brad interact with various other students when I’ve arrived a few minutes early, and he is amazing. He tailors each lesson to the individual student, and we are a very broad spectrum of musicians with widely divergent goals, abilities, personalities, skill levels and challenges. Somehow Brad is able to determine how to best approach each of us to help us discover and realize our fullest potential.
Truly great teachers are a rarity, and Brad is one of the very best. You are truly fortunate to have him on your teaching staff. He has helped open a whole new world of music to me and many others, and the journey continues to be very rewarding and fun. Thank you for offering Brad’s remarkable professional talents to students at 4/4 School of Music–he is the best!
Sincerely,
Mike W.
