My child already takes band or orchestra at school. Can he/she benefit from private lessons?

Yes! Your child's school band teacher has 20-35 students to lead in a 45-minute class. Private lessons are one on one and highly focused on your child's needs. Many parents think their child is already taking music lessons by being in the school band or orchestra. It is rare that your child's school teacher happens to specialize in your child's particular instrument and will have very little one-on-one time with them. Their job is to lead the band or orchestra. They do their best to help your child but only have 45 minutes or so and usually there are 20-35 kids in each band class. Most of the best students in any school band also take private music lessons for the personal attention and guidance required to become the very best musician they can be!

Do you offer string instrument lessons (violin, viola, cello) for adults?

Yes! Many of our students are adults. The funny thing is that many of us have always heard kids learn faster than adults. We have found that most of the time our adult students learn much, much faster than the kids do. Adult students are more motivated, focused and have learned how to learn. Don't hesitate to start learning an instrument as a complete beginner even if you are starting late in life. We have many students taking lessons well into their 60's and beyond! Please call us to see if the instrument you wish to study is currently offered at the Four Four School of Music near you.

Can I borrow an instrument at the first lesson to try it out before I purchase one?

Often times you can! Sometime your teacher will be able to loan you an instrument for the first lesson. Please call us to find out if that is available for your instrument and your specific teacher. Please note that for your safety we cannot provide loaner instruments to students studying wind or brass instruments. These instruments require direct contact with your mouth so you will need to at least rent one of these instruments in order to try it out. We can help you find a good rental shop nearby if you just give us a call. We are more than happy to help.

Please call us for assistance in purchasing or renting instruments or if you have any other questions.
